The Fort Worth Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 440 was chartered in 1935, and since that time has been continuously affiliated with the IAFF. We were also one of the 6 charter members of the TSAFF in 1938. We have been helping forge a trail of union representation for our firefighters for more than 8 decades.

It is an honor and privilege to be a small part of the many successes our union has achieved on behalf of our now more than 950 members. Each day our firefighters show up at fire stations across our great city and are willing to put their lives on the line for the citizens and visitors whom they have likely never even met. As a well-trained and efficient fire department they provide excellent service and are incredible stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars.

Our intent as a labor organization is to work closely with both our fire administration as well as the city management’s team on behalf of our members. We have stood side by side with each other through many struggles over the years as our city has grown to where it is today. As one of the largest cities in our nation we have the great opportunity to deliver exceptional fire protection, EMS care, as well as other technical needs such as rescue, haz-mat, and swift water/underwater dive and recovery each day to those living in and visiting our community.

Serving as the president of our great union has been an opportunity I never had expected. I couldn’t be more proud of the men and women that have placed their trust in me and the rest of our executive board to represent them in city hall as well as our state’s and nation’s capitals. The support of each of our members allows Local 440 to be a strong voice for them and to provide the necessary resources to lobby each day for a fair set of wages, benefits, working conditions, and employee rights for all Fort Worth firefighters.

Rest assured, any Fort Worth firefighter you might meet is one of the absolute best in our business and will do all that they can for you if needed or called upon.
